I’ve been working on a project for a month now and it’s finally done! I’ve been reorganizing my recipes into one place. Before you think to yourself what a supermom I am, you should know that this project has been on my goal list since January of 2017–(LAST year!!) So this project has taken me forever to start and is a classic example of my tendency to procrastinate and put things on the back burner when life gets busy!
And technically, I’m not quite finished. I still have to compile all of my desserts and put them in the binder as well, but considering my meal plan is done, I’m celebrating.
When I told my mom she just laughed and told me I have reorganized my recipes at least 10 times. It’s true–I have. But last year I determined to tackle a part of my life I didn’t love at all–cooking and baking. I named my quest: “Project Kitchen Love” and little by little I’ve been implementing things into my daily rounds that have helped me love being in the kitchen more. Things like turning on Pandora to the French Cooking Station or Celtic music or Frank Sinatra or Nat King Cole. Somehow, that makes being in the kitchen so much more enjoyable for me.
The recipe/meal plan organize was the last project on my list and now I have a pretty binder with all my recipes clipped and stored inside. If you want a detailed step-by-step of how I did this project let me know, but I won’t hash out all the details here.
These simple tweaks have helped me love to create magic in the kitchen (well, most of the time…sometimes I still find it difficult to get off my rocking chair, put down my laptop, and pause my writing projects…)
But just know that if there’s an area of your life that you don’t love right now, don’t be discouraged. It’s been almost 12 years of marriage and I’m just starting to love being in the kitchen. And maybe one day you’ll feel a tiny little nudge to explore that area or chore you don’t like and find a few simple ways to make it a little more enjoyable.
What areas have you grown to love in your own life by giving them your own special touch?
